Our Cancer Care and Haematology Unit provides consultation and review by consultants on chemotherapy, hormonal therapy and biological therapies as well as a range of supportive therapies such as blood transfusions to patients with solid tumours, haematological malignancies and patients with non-cancerous blood disorders.
The unit is actively involved in clinical trials for new drugs for patients with the above indications. Patients undergoing Clinical trials must attend the Tweed Hospital.
Access to the Cancer Care and Haematology Unit is by referral to the Medical Oncologists or Haematologist. Appointments are made through The Tweed Cancer Care and Haematology Unit.
Please send any referrals from GP’s and specialists to The Tweed Hospital Cancer Care and Haematology Unit. New Haematology patients are seen by consultants at The Tweed Hospital in the first instance, and they can then choose to have treatment at the Murwillumbah Unit, if preferred.
