The Westlawn Finance and Insurance Charity Golf Day, held recently in Grafton, has raised $18,000 to help purchase a Telehealth Enable Cart and a portable Nitrous Oxide Machine for the Children's Ward at Grafton Base Hospital.

Murwillumbah District Hospital (MDH) will continue to provide key health care services to the Tweed Valley community when the new Tweed Valley Hospital (TVH) becomes operational in May.

The North Coast community and visitors to the region are being urged to take precautions to prevent mosquito bites after recent detections of mosquito borne viruses during surveillance.

North Coast Public Health Unit Associate Director Robin Auld said the detections, combined with an expected seasonal increase in mosquito numbers, have increased the community’s risk of contracting mosquito-borne diseases.

“Mosquitoes in the NSW North Coast can carry viruses which can lead to debilitating illness in humans, such as Ross River and Barmah Forest,” Mr Auld said.

The Tweed Heads community will benefit from a range of community-based and outreach health services to be delivered under one roof on the site of the current Tweed Hospital, after hospital services transfer to the Tweed Valley Hospital later this year.
The Tweed Heads Community Health Centre (THCHC) will be located at Powell Street, on the western side of the existing Tweed Hospital campus.

Northern NSW Local Health District (NNSWLHD) is helping women from multicultural backgrounds find out about and access local health services, thanks to a series of specially tailored information sessions.

A range of positions are now on offer for dedicated healthcare professionals to join the team delivering essential health services at the new $723.3 million Tweed Valley Hospital. More than 80 full time equivalent (FTE) roles are now being advertised in the latest round of recruitment for positions including nurses, pharmacists, security, managers, technicians, and support roles.

More than 190 graduate nurses and midwives will start work across Northern NSW Local Health District (NNSWLHD) this year, providing a significant boost to local health services.

Community members are invited to take a behind the scenes look at the new $723.3 million Tweed Valley Hospital at a Community Open Day on Saturday 16 March 2024.

People in Northern NSW are being encouraged to get vaccinated against measles by attending a free pop-up clinic in Murwillumbah.

The mobile screening van will be in Knox Park Murwillumbah from 19th February 2024 to 21st March 2024.
