Education to reduce teenage driving crashes

Education aimed at helping teenagers make safer choices is once again coming to high schools in the Northern Rivers this November.

The Reducing Risk and Improving Student Knowledge (RRISK) webinars with Year 11 students will be delivered from 9am-10.30am from Monday 13 to Wednesday 15 November to help students stay safe on the road and at parties.

The locally developed training has been delivered by Northern NSW Local Health District (NNSWLHD) for over 20 years, with research now showing it has a long-term effect on reducing motor vehicle crashes and severity.

Avoid handling bats to protect yourself against lyssavirus

Outpatient cancer care report shows positive experiences of care

Patients in Northern NSW receiving treatment for cancer have reported overwhelmingly positive experiences of care, according to the latest independent survey. 

Data from the Bureau of Health Information’s Outpatient Cancer Clinics Survey 2023, released today, shows 98 per cent of patients across Northern NSW Local Health District (NNSWLHD) rated their overall care as ‘very good’ or ‘good’.

The BreastScreen NSW van visiting Coraki and Bonalbo

BreastScreen NSW provides free breast screening to women to support the early detection of breast cancer.

The Get Healthy Service is a free phone and on-line customised coaching program for anyone who lives in NSW and is over 16 who wants to eat healthy, get active, reduce their alcohol intake or to reach and stay a healthy weight.

Go4Fun kicks off in Kyogle, Grafton, Goonellabah and Tweed for Term 4

Go4Fun, a free, after-school, healthy lifestyle program for primary school-aged children who are above a healthy weight, kicks off in Term 4 in Kyogle, Grafton, Goonellabah and Tweed.

The 10-week program, which runs once a week during the school term, teaches 7-13 year old children and their families about the benefits of healthy eating, as well as healthy lifestyles through games and activities.
