A baby boy born to Tweed Shire locals, the Espie family, has secured a place in history, becoming the first baby born at the new Tweed Valley Hospital, coming into the world at 8.53pm on 14 May, the hospital’s opening day.

Tweed Valley Hospital is a major referral and teaching hospital located in the heart of the Tweed-Byron region.  

Tweed Valley Hospital provides a wide range of inpatient, day only and outpatient services in a brand new, state of the art facility.

Our services include emergency, trauma and critical care, surgical services, cancer services, women’s care and newborn services, paediatric services, renal unit, intensive care, cardiac catheter laboratory, Mental Health inpatient facilities.

Outpatient services are provided from our dedicated Outpatients department in the main hospital building, and include physiotherapy, fracture clinics, antenatal clinics, occupational therapy and paediatric outpatients.

Health Hub

The Health Hub is located on the eastern side of the hospital campus. You will find these services in the Health Hub: 

  • Aboriginal Health services
  • public dental clinic (Oral Health)
  • Sexual Health clinic (formerly Clinic 145)
  • HIV and Related Programs (HARP).

Visitor information: visitors are encouraged to wear a mask while in clinical areas and use hand sanitiser. 

Learning, Development and Research Centre

The Learning, Development and Research Centre is a cutting edge research and education facility, and home to the Northern NSW Academic Health Alliance. This is a partnership with VET and tertiary education providers to deliver expert healthcare training and research for today’s students and tomorrow’s medical workforce.

Getting here

Located close to the M1 motorway and adjacent to Tweed Coast Road, Tweed Valley Hospital is easily accessed by car and public transport.  

Follow the M1 to Chinderah and take the exit towards Cudgen/Kingscliff. Continue on Tweed Coast Road and turn left at the intersection of Tweed Coast Road and Cudgen Road.  

Tweed Valley Hospital is located on a public transport route. Bus stops are located on both sides of Cudgen Road, directly in front of the hospital, with a pedestrian crossing at the traffic lights.  Plan your public transport journey at https://www.transportnsw.info
