The Coronary Care Unit (CCU) provides care for patients with serious and life-threatening Cardiac conditions. Sometimes admission to CCU is planned, such as after cardiological interventional procedures; however, patients may be admitted to CCU at short notice depending on their medical condition.

Nurses, doctors and many other health professionals are involved in caring for the patient using a team approach. Our unit is a training unit for nurses, physiotherapists and medical officers and we support undergraduates from several universities. 

Patients may be transferred to a metropolitan hospital to continue their care and management if medically required.
